Treatment and disposal of hazardous waste
This class includes the disposal of other solid and non-solid wastes that are explosive, oxidising, flammable, toxic, irritant, noxious, carcinogenic, corrosive, containing infectious substances, and that are harmful to human health or the environment, by pre-treating them:
- operation of hazardous waste treatment facilities
- treatment and disposal of infected animals, both live and dead
- incineration of hazardous waste
- treatment of used goods (e.g. refrigerators) to destroy harmful substances
- treatment, disposal or storage of spent radioactive nuclear fuel or other radioactive waste (radioactive waste that is subject to fission during transport from hospitals or other places)
- sealing, other treatment and preparation for storage of spent nuclear fuel.
Excludes:
- reprocessing of nuclear fuel, see 20.13.1
- incineration of non-hazardous waste, see 38.21
- decontamination of soil, water, and toxic substances, see 39.00.0
