Leasing of intellectual property and related products, other than copyrighted works

This subclass includes activities that allow others to use intellectual property and related products in return for compensation or licensing fees (e.g., payments for the right to exploit natural resources) to the owners of the products. Leasing of such products can take various forms: permission to reproduce (copy), application of innovations in the course of activity (production) (e.g., new technologies), implementation of production activities under franchising terms, etc. The owner of the right to use intellectual property is not necessarily the author of the product. This class includes: - leasing of intellectual property, except copyrighted works such as books, films, software - receipt of royalties or licence fees for the right to use patented developments, new technologies and other intellectual property, trademarks, trade names (brands), mineral exploration results and assessments, franchise agreements and similar products. Excludes: - acquisition of publishing rights, see divisions 58 and 59 - publication, reproduction and distribution of copyrighted works such as books, films, software, see divisions 58 and 59 - leasing of real estate, see 68.2 - renting of property (tangible objects), see 77.1, 77.2, 77.3
